The Role
The Sommelier is the property’s ultimate authority on the "Liquid Journey." You are a storyteller and a sensory expert, responsible for curating a beverage portfolio that rivals the world’s finest collections. We are seeking professionals who possess a deep intellectual understanding of terroir, production, and pairing, and who can translate that knowledge into a sophisticated, approachable guest experience.
Core Responsibilities
Cellar Curation & Management:
Oversee the selection, procurement, and meticulous storage of an elite beverage portfolio, ensuring a balance of classic icons and avant-garde discoveries.
Bespoke Pairing Programs:
Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to design intricate pairing menus that elevate the gastronomic experience for tasting menus and private events.
The Theatre of Service:
Execute flawless tableside service, including professional decanting, glassware selection, and the "storytelling" of each pour.
Beverage Innovation:
(Specific to KSA) Lead the development of world-class non-alcoholic programs, including rare tea pairings, fermented botanicals, and vintage juice collections.
Team Education:
Conduct regular training sessions for the Chefs de Rang and service staff to enhance their beverage knowledge and upselling techniques.
Professional Profile
Certifications:
Certified Sommelier (CMS), WSET Level 3 or 4, or equivalent recognized international accreditation.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a high-end Sommelier role within a 5-star hotel or a world-renowned fine dining establishment.
Sensory Mastery:
An exceptional palate and the ability to articulate complex flavor profiles to a diverse and discerning clientele.
Communication:
Sophisticated verbal skills; the ability to engage guests with passion, humility, and absolute professional poise.
Commercial Awareness:
Strong understanding of cellar inventory management, high-margin pricing strategies, and global beverage trends.
